Ecosocialism: An experiment - Hidden Cash Bristol

The ethic of teamwork, which we have promoted over the last six months, has certainly served as a catalyst, whilst striving to raise awareness of environmental causes. Thank you to all of our followers for embracing this principle so passionately! You are now working together to create real change and this will be amplified as our network expands.

Yesterday, we received a request for help that brought ideas to the surface, which I had been developing, whilst studying social interactions.

The large obstacle that stands in the way of conservation is that, whilst individuals and organisations pursue goals such as profit, wealth or efficiency, there is little or no regard for the environment. Valuation of nature in decision making has simply led to abuse, as demonstrated by the principle of Biodiversity Offsetting.

However, we feel that this problem can largely be solved! By imagining the different sectors of society as separate "species", with their own goals, and by also applying thought and consideration we can engineer symbiotic relationships, creating a win, win situation!

So! To our experiment: "Hidden Cash" started in San Francisco recently, when a millionaire began hiding cash in envelopes around the city and posting clues of how to find it on Twitter.

A campaign has started to bring "hidden cash" to Bristol, after several envelopes were left across London as part of the social experiment.

The "symbiotic" relationship was therefore easy to establish in this case & the following proposals have been accepted for the common good:

1. The Bristol community needs 1,000 followers of @HCcomebristol to attract "hidden cash". @MMNNActionUK has offered to help with this.
2. Moving Mountains Nature Network wants to raise awareness of environmental issues and create social change. @HCcomebristol has offered to help share nature campaigns and petitions.

The relationship has been established and there is a chance to now demonstrate the power and benefits of Ecosocialism.

If this experiment produces notable results then we shall be introducing this idea of "social symbiosis" as a major component of our work alongside the ethic of teamwork. If successful, together we CAN all bring changes for the good of both people AND planet.

We need your help! Please ALL follow @HCcomebristol. Simple acts by mankind CAN lead to a bright future for life on earth.

Thank you for helping with this experiment.

The Winds of Change! - Green World 2015

First of all, thank you to everyone who took part in our first open survey. This was your chance to help determine our direction.

A report will be due out later this month which summarises the results and demonstrates how your views are determining the path that "Moving Mountains" takes! We called it "Team4Nature" for a reason! It is the only way that we can create the change necessary for a sustainable world, where our provider, Mother Nature, is cared for.

So to the winds of change. Our survey indicated that you would like the Moving Mountains Nature Network (MMNN) to go global. Followers in America and Australia have also asked if we could set up an MMNN for them. Well yes we can! Welcome to "Green World 2015" (@MMNNGreenWorld)!

But before we start we need a clear mission statement that acknowledges the key obstacles that will inevitably hinder us along our path towards world change.

Our main asset? Well it is simple. Green policies make sense and are designed for people and planet. They are not driven by short term political gain or profits. This is therefore "easy to sell", or at least it should be, if we had unbiased media! We need to recognise this obstacle!

We have another asset! There are millions upon millions of people in the world who DO care passionately about the planet. We need to harness that energy so that it can be used to create cultural & political change that protects and enhances the amazing biodiversity work that is being carried out by volunteers and wildlife charities across the world.

To succeed we need to go through phases in our development:

1. Awareness and strength in numbers
Social media provides a great opportunity to create a world-gathering of like-minded people that want to protect our planet for a bright, healthy future. In the UK "Team4Nature" (@MMNNActionUK) has gained over 12,000 followers in 5 months because of a strong team ethic, which is placing it in the top 40 world influencers of Green Infrastructure on Twitter. Passion and teamwork DO add power to a good cause. Individually we can do little. Together we CAN create change. We have an ambitious aim but we need YOUR help! We need 100,000 passionate followers by 1/1/15 to influence change. Please, if you support us, then use our bio or extracts from our mission statement to spread the word, asking others to join our world-gathering. By natural growth we can hope to attract 15,000 followers by the end of this year.  With your help, spreading the word, we can roll that out 10-fold! We ALL have the power to create change!

2. Media involvement
Whilst all working together to create massive growth in a short period, sections of the media that are green and receptive will be invited on board. Indeed already "Green World 2015" has received offers to get our message our there! It is TOO EARLY! We need strength in numbers first. It is vital that the early phases of development overlap to ensure swift movement towards achievement of goals. We are creating a database of media organisations that want to provide a voice for us, at the right time, so that we can create a real impact from our first press release. A "carrot" for all of us who want change: we will only produce a press release when we have 100,000 followers on twitter. So if we love earth and nature, and are passionate about change, then we must get through STAGE 1 as quickly as possible.

3. Green World 2015 partners
A remarkable rate of growth will be further enhanced by forging partnerships across the world. This will be the "glue" that secures and strengthens a world network. No doubt every country has a number of influential & respected Green Warrior organisations that share our vision. If stage 1 is turning heads, and stage 2 has established a bank of receptive green media, then partnerships will act as a catalyst, whilst also driving partner organisations towards their own green goals! The "green engine" for change will then spring to life! This is what we believe to be to the key moment: the winds of change!

4. Mobilisation
As any environmental economist or politician will tell you, you can have a million followers on social media but it still won't create cultural and political change! (But it certainly would speed up the process if you possess it!). The holy grail will be reached via a series of "lock-ons". Prior to a world event, all "Green World" partners will attach to that countries' green political party. At the same time a coordinated press release will be sent via our bank of green media! The strength of this volley will send our message deep into the mainstream media! Who knows, if we have all worked as a team at stage 1, then we may have sections of the mainstream media at our sides early on! The power is in YOUR own hands.

5. The World Event
With a world gathering of "Green Warriors" in place (Stage1), green & mainstream media in support (Stage 1/4) & "Green World" partners in place (Stage 3), we will all "lock on" to the world's wildlife charities, by supporting their biodiversity projects. We will "lock-on" to the worlds "renewable" energy industry, inviting respected organisations to the world event. We will "lock on" to the network of "transition towns" that possess the green-print for cultural change. The last "lock-on" will harness the pure positive energy already present in the world - we will hold our global event on World Environment Day!

The speed with which we get to stage 4 will determine WHICH year we will be ready to hold our global event!

We firmly believe that if everyone who is passionate about the beauty of our planet, it's nature & the need for sustainable living, joins this movement, then it IS possible to hold our event in 2015.

The incentive is simple. On World Environment Day three democratic opportunities will be available. First an opportunity to create history by signing the world's largest petition, asking the governments of the world to focus policies on "people and planet", whilst promoting local economies.
Second, there will be an opportunity to create a green surge in politics across the world. All events will offer the opportunity to sign up to your nation's green political parties. In the space of one day the voice for Mother Nature will have been propelled forward!
Thirdly, there will be the opportunity to break the record for funds raised for biodiversity projects! Membership of world wildlife charities will also receive a welcome boost of mammoth proportions!

Our mission:

"To create the winds of change that safeguard our world & it's diverse communities for a bright future together, achieved by drawing on the pure force that exists inside all of our hearts. We will then celebrate our achievements together on World Environment Day. Which year? That is up to you!"

TOGETHER WE REALLY CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE ;-)

"Keep Britain Green: 2014!" Event 20th - 26th October 2014

Autumn is a beautiful and dramatic season in the UK.

We want our maiden event to have as much impact as the spectacular colours on show at this time of year.

The event will cover Wolverhampton, Walsall and Birmingham, but will also create a national initiative. "Keep Britain Green: 2014" will have the following aims :

1. To raise money for local school, community and biodiversity projects and equipment. All funds will be held and distributed by school PTAs. There will be no deductions or expenses. 100% of the money raised will go directly to "green" causes.

2. To bring business to the forefront of conservation in the UK, we will create "Team4Nature" partnerships with local AND national organisations, for this event, and as part of our future Moving Mountains Nature Networks. The event will also involve local and national "green" businesses, promoting their healthy and sustainable products.

3. Helping to create a new generation of nature lovers. A programme of fun and varied activities throughout the week will ignite a passion for nature, from toddlers to college students and sixth-formers! Sponsored sport events will serve to create a team spirit and embrace those with wider interests.

4. Increase membership (especially early years and youth) of wildlife charities and raise awareness of their important work within local communities.

5. Raise awareness of local reserves and green spaces acting as a catalyst for future school and community event programmes, connecting more people with nature.

6. Creation of a new national "Bright Future" fund, kick-started by this event, to be held jointly by the wildlife charities and PTAs.  The fund will support projects designed to nurture future generations that care for and conserve our beautiful world and it's wildlife.

We really do hope that you are ALL excited by this event. It offers a massive opportunity for those who are passionate about nature to work together and make a difference. The media WILL be involved  providing an opportunity to get a strong message out regarding the state of nature in the UK and the importance of preserving it for future generations. We want the total figure raised to demonstrate just how strong, people feel about the environment, and this will certainly help to move green issues towards the centre of British politics.

To get involved is simple! E-mail us (at: mmnnactionuk@gmail.com) as soon as possible, stating your area of interest in the event and we will add you to our mailing list. We look forward to hearing from you.

Together we really can make a difference!

HS2 - After the Storm: The Voice for Nature, Business and Community Rises

HS2 has hidden key documents from MPs who represent communities, by using a war veto.

HS2 has led to the sacking of MPs that stand up for their communities.

HS2 has ignored invites to meet action groups and community leaders.

HS2 has misrepresented the economic facts by failing to take account of the TRUE VALUE of Natural Capital, as called for by the Natural Capital Committee and submitted to the Economic Affairs Committee:

"Over the coming decades, there will be a major programme to develop the UK's infrastructure. The
National Infrastructure Plan 2013 sets out ambitious plans - for new railways, roads, airport
expansions, energy systems, water resources, sewerage investments, flood defences and a major increase in house building - to modernise the economy and accommodate a sharp rise in population. In taking forward this major investment, it is important not to lose sight of natural infrastructure and the integral part that natural capital plays in delivering sustainable economic growth. As the White Paper rightly emphasised, the environment is part of the economy and needs
to be properly integrated into it so that growth opportunities will not be missed.

Integrating the environment into the economy is hampered by the almost complete absence of proper accounting for natural assets. What is not measured is usually ignored. National and corporate accounts are essential building blocks. The torch needs to be shone on what is going on,
in order to work out how to seize the numerous opportunities. The Committee is leading the way in
developing the metrics and risk registers, identifying the necessary capital maintenance, and
ensuring that project and investment appraisals in both the public and private sectors properly take
natural capital into account. Our recommendations in this report spell out what further needs to be
done. "

Q:How has Natural Capital been measured for HS2, when 40% of the route hasn't been surveyed and vital habitats, such as ancient woodlands have been overlooked?

In the aftermath of the Winter flooding that devastated so many communities. HS2 plans to wreck the Ecosystem Services across 300 miles of countryside, that help maintain a balance in nature, without extremes. What price should we place on the destruction of the world that is left for our children?

So who exactly are the "Knight's in shining armor"?, and, perhaps just as importantly, who aren't?

1. Last night, during our "warm-up" tweet storm, single voices, unpaid and with nothing to gain, took time out to read the facts, spread the word and contact MPs to vote against HS2 on Monday 28th April 2014.They are all "Knights in shining armor".

2. MPs that have lost their jobs, because they have listened to the communities that they represent and placed those interests first by opposing HS2. They are ALL "Knights in shining armor". Ask yourself, just how bad is HS2 if people are making such sacrifices?

3. The HS2 action groups. We have seen for ourselves how incredible individuals have come together, sacrificing time and money to fight for a just cause. They are tired, and their families have sacrificed, as they use every waking moment to protest. Ask yourself, why are these people making such sacrifices? Is HS2 really that bad? Every member of every action group is a "Knight in shining armor".

Peter Delow deserves special mention. He is an incredible author and environmental blogger and you can see a great summary of his work here

4. The Institute of Economic Affairs. All businesses and communities should be concerned here. This highly respected body of policy experts reached clear conclusions regarding the HS2 project. It is well worth taking a moment to read their summaryAsk yourself, why are we driving a knife into the heart of the UK's natural wealth when HS2 isn't even viable?

5. The UK wildlife charities
Some of the air that you breathe, the water that you drink, the food that you eat, and the health that you are hopefully enjoying today has come from the established natural assets that exist along the HS2 route. HS2 will rip that up and leave less for your next generations!

The wildlife charities protect these assets for our survival and enjoyment. They are now adopting a strong team approach for nature. All of them are fighting to protect nature. They are all "Knights in shining armor".

This morning, The Wildlife Trusts have not only provided an update regarding their position on HS2, but have also provided a clear vision as to how to get the best possible result for nature, should this disastrous "gravy train" "White elephant" project get the go ahead from YOUR MP's!!!

Please, take a moment to look at their articles:

Remember that if the costs of these NECESSARY and EASILY JUSTIFIED measures to protect the environment (which, in turn protects us), ARE included in the COST/BENEFIT analysis, it would make HS2 look EVEN MORE of a disaster!

6. Councils that are opposing HS2. This is such a difficult position for them. Ask yourself, why would they do that IF HS2 was good for the community? To get a feeling for the level of opposition by councils, take a look at the 51m website. Every council that is standing up for community and nature is filled with "Knights in shining armor"

Do you want to be a "Knight in shining armor" by protecting the community and nature from the destruction of HS2? Here's how:

1. Email your MP.  - ask them to vote against HS2 on Monday. There are simple tools that you can use to help do this quickly. Just use your postcode here

2. Attend the demonstration at Parliament on Monday 28th April 2014. Arrangements have been made so that you can ask YOUR MP to meet you on the day.

3. Join a storm on Twitter to help #StopHS2! Action Group members are all volunteers, without  money to burn on advertising campaigns. To make the tweet storm storm trend on Sunday between 19:00-20:00, would be a TRUE VICTORY FOR ALL "KNIGHTS IN SHINING ARMOR" AND FOR THE PEOPLE. This action is a voice for the people and nature, and to see people standing strong to protect nature and community has to be good for the future.

Please spread word to family, friends and others, using word of mouth, nature/community websites, blogs and your social media accounts. Help #StopHS2.

Oh! Almost forgot! So who isn't a "Knight in shining armor" ?

Well read these two articles and then decide for yourselves!! here and here (By incredible coincidence the latter article refers to a "Knight in shining armour"!)

Every battle needs a hero. In this battle to protect nature from the unjustified destruction of HS2, we have found one - "Billy Bones" (@billybones53) This man speaks for the voiceless and is a warrior in the fight to vaccinate Badgers instead of UNJUSTIFIED AND INHUMANE SHOOTING or GASSING. (THE CATTLE AND BADGER VACCINATION INITIATIVE)! Fate decided that when Billy saw our Tweet about the #StopHS2 tweet storms, he was listening to this Neil Young song:

Listen to the words " ....I dreamed I saw the Knights in armor come" ......."Look at Mother Nature on the run" Feel the lost voices of animals that have been tortured as you listen to this song.

Mother Nature doesn't need to be on the run, we can all protect her now.

To some, HS2 is a "Gold Rush". But nature has not been valued properly in an already suspect cost/benefit analysis for HS2. Feel the words of this song. Be that "KNIGHT IN ARMOR" and protect MOTHER NATURE - Take the above actions to STOP HS2.

They tortured Badgers after ignoring Sir David Attenborough. Let them hear a team voice now to stop HS2.

There are MILLIONS OF NATURE LOVERS IN THE UK. PLEASE BE THAT "KNIGHT IN ARMOR"!

1. Email your MP.  - ask them to vote against HS2 on Monday. There are simple tools that you can use to help do this quickly.

2. Attend the demonstration at Parliament on Monday 28th April 2014. Arrangements have been made so that you can meet your MP on the day and ask them to vote against HS2.

HELP CREATE A TWEET STORM ON SUNDAY AT 19:00 that sends out a clear message:

HS2 threatens communities and the UK's natural assets that provide our air, water, food and health. There are alternatives that come at FAR less cost to people and planet.

SAY NO TO HS2!

Thank you as always for taking time to read this article.
